Partly sunny, with a high near 38.For the upcoming weekend, this is still projected to give way to a dropping in from the Pacific Northwest. Temperatures will begin to trend downward on Saturday especially for northeast -northwest NV where shower chances will increase.
Kairos does not. Kairos is the Lord's Time, and is judged, not by its succession or duration but by its value, the intensity of the experience of God's presence in the midst of the Christian community.' Kairos letters examples. Chronos emphasizes duration, succession of moments, chronological time.
Gusty winds are also, with early projections of 30-40 mph gusts for lower elevations and 60-75 mph gusts for Sierra ridges. While some snow showers could reach the Sierra Saturday evening, it`s unlikely that amounts will be meaningful enough to prevent many areas from seeing a record dry February, especially for much of Mono County including Mammoth Lakes which could end up with no measurable snowfall for the month. This is just one year after many of these same Sierra locations received record high precip and snowfall amounts for the month February. While there remain differences in the storm track as it drops south (either digging off the coast or dropping into the Great ), overall it only looks like a light precip event for late Saturday night through Sunday, with a few inches of snowfall and slick travel conditions possible in the Sierra. Temperatures will be much cooler on Sunday, with snow levels also dropping to lower valley floors. Spotty light accumulations of snow are possible in parts of western NV Sunday evening if a secondary wave drops in behind the cold, but some of the guidance/ scenarios do not indicate this secondary wave and therefore favor a drying trend Sunday night. After a chilly (but not excessively cold) morning, Monday looks to be dry with daytime highs near early March averages (lower-mid 50s for western NV and 40s near the Sierra).
Looking into next week, the majority of the guidance scenarios indicate another dropping into the Great around the middle of next week with a reinforcing shot of cooler temperatures, but precip amounts (if any) again look rather light. In short, this year's a bust, get your mountain bike tuned up and your climbing shoes resoled. I know some people who travel here are hating it, but as a local I've enjoyed it. 2 of the last 3 winters were huge. And while I enjoyed them it really blocks up the backcountry for months. There are bugs everywhere basically until fall, there's snow blocking the climbing routes, and the stream flows were massive making them pretty dangerous.I love the big winters, there's a lot to be said for big summers as well.
Looking forward to getting an early start on things. The only wrinkle is the fire season but that seems less and less linked to particular winters.
