A few weeks ago, I started the thread '5077 legendaries, primal drop rate':Total number of legendaries: 5077Number of ancient legandaries: 503 = 9.91%Number of primal legendaries: 13 = 0.26%Since I was curious about the primal drop rate and wanted to find at least one useful primal, I did more runs. I am at 10257 now.Notes:-These are only my drops-no gapsTotal number of legendaries: 10257Number of ancient legandaries: 1037 = 10.11%Number of primal legendaries: 18 = 0.18%Discussion:-I am well aware that even a sample size of 10,000 is far too low to calculate the exact primal drop rate. For instance, in the first 5000 legendaries I had 13 primals, in the next 5000 legendaries only 5.-However, it is clear that the primal drop rate is well below 0.5% with a high probability below 0.3%.-This low drop rate makes hunting for useful primals not very desirableHere is the data:. Yeah but since they're only max rolled ancients instead of having increased stats ranges like originally planned it's really not that big of a deal. I've had 12 primals drop so far this season and I only have 1 equipped. But when I take a step back and look at some of the ancients I have, say my Vyr's helm; it's something like 991 Int, 986 Vit, 6% crit.

If I were to get a primal the difference would be extremely minimal. Grind out a couple more gem levels on my next augment or two more paragons levels makes up the Int, then the difference is 14 points in vitality. Yeah the red border is nice, and yeah with weapons the difference can definitely be huge, but I think overall it's not as big a deal as some people seem to think. A really well rolled ancient is still really, really good and primals don't make them obsolete. 2 friends have primal Travellers pledge ammys with 1000 DEX 100 CHD & 10 CHC.Both had to roll something else off for the 100CHD, so no chance to roll elemental damage.1 scored primal Focus, the orher Restraint - that was funny seeing 'em try and trade.Playing Shadow impale DH, I've scored primal manticore & 2 pieces of Marauder set so far, when season finishes I'll update my M6 build i guess.Nothing else useful though, Wyrdward, Rondals Locket, Lacuni Prowlers without crit chance rolled.

Bakkan Caster. Alright, updating my for your new results. This time in short, for explanation see there.is the updated distribution. Central Tendency. Mean is 0.185%. Median is 0.182%. Mode is 0.175%Dispersion.

Standard Deviation is 0.042%. Mean Average Deviation is 0.034%. Inflection Point Distance from Mode is 0.041%(Confidence) Intervals.

Inflection Points are 0.134% and 0.217%. 99% confidence: between 0.094% and 0.313%. 95% confidence: between 0.112% and 0.277%. Cannon fodder 3 pc gameplay.

90% confidence: between 0.121% and 0.260%. 75% confidence: between 0.138% and 0.235%So.

Considering that 'nice' numbers are much more likely to have been chosen, my guess would be 0.2%, but as you can see from the distribution the sample size is way too small to tell this apart from 0.15%, 0.125%, or 0.25% with any assurance. On a side note, comparing the dispersion to that of the previous results, I hoped it would become a bit narrower than it actually did by doubling the sample size. But that's already pretty narrow looking at the bigger picture. It does seem very low but I see most people tend to look at it the wrong way (not saying you do, just players in general). The chance to get a perfect primal is far greater than the chance of getting a perfect ancient though. Lot of people are upset about the droprate it seems like but the release of primals increased our chance at getting a perfect item.

The chance of getting an ancient with perfect rolls and all the right stats has to be insanely low. I'd be curious to what the chance of that is for comparisons sake. Maybe I'll do the math on that for some items tomorrow if I'm not too lazy.
